7. The Chariot: In the Driver's Seat of Your Life

The Chariot card depicts a man standing inside the cab of the chariot with a wand in his hand as if commanding the sphinxes to go. But they are not connected to the Chariot so he is really the captain of his ship. The black and white sphinxes represent duality. The Chariot driver succeeds by transcending these opposing forces that might take him off his course and abort the journey he has embarked upon altogether. But he is triumphant because he understands his mission is ultimately an inside job. This is a card of control but because we cannot ultimately control others it's more about self-discipline winning the race, as well as the ability to win in spite of any difficulties in one's path
